The Bluebay Beach Resort & Spa with its traditional Swahili charm is located on the most beautiful white sandy beach on the east coast of the island of Zanzibar.
Location
The resort is located on the east coast of the island of Zanzibar in the Kiwenga region. It is less than an hour's drive from Abeid Karume Airport on the all-weather Tarmac Road. The beach resort is set on 30 hectares of beautiful grounds. It is set on a gentle slope overlooking the lush green gardens with more than a thousand beautiful palm trees, the swimming pool, the sparkling white beach and the azure blue sea beyond.
Hotel facilities
The typical Zanzibari style hotel is surrounded by extensive tropical gardens with many palm trees. The luxuriously furnished resort has the main restaurant “Makuti” with sea view, a pool bar, the à la carte restaurant “Bahari Grill”, the “Blue Marlin Beach Retaurant” and the “Blu Deli Coffee Lounge”. There are two swimming pools. Sun loungers on the beach and by the pool are included. The hotel shares the 500 m long beach with its sister hotel Sultan Sands, whose facilities can also be used by guests. WLAN in the entire complex and in all rooms.

Deluxe Garden View (new): The new Deluxe Garden View rooms are elevated on the grounds and offer views of the verdant tropical gardens. Summary of room facilities:

Junior Suite: The 6 Junior Suites are privately located in three bungalows, just 30 meters from the beach, and are extremely spacious and luxurious at 90 m². Each suite has its own lounge area, a huge veranda and a private garden with outdoor shower: your private enclave of peace and tranquillity. Summary of room facilities:

Board
The leading board type is half board. Full board or all-inclusive can also be booked for an additional charge.
Meals for half-board and full-board guests are served in the main restaurant Makuti at Bluebay Beach Resort & Spa.
From 01.11.24 there are 2 themed restaurants at Bluebay Beach Resort & Spa with reservation and extra charge: Indian restaurant “Cinnamon‘ + ’The Wok” restaurant.
Guests of the Bluebay Beach Resort & Spa also have access to the main restaurant Mwambao and the Italian themed restaurant “Trattoria” (at an extra charge).
All-inclusive guests have access to all restaurants of both hotels (see separate data sheet). Themed restaurants with reservation.
Coffee, tea and cake are served in the afternoon in the Blu-Deli Cafe. Drinks are available at the Palms Pool Bar.
Sports & Wellness
The hotel has two freshwater pools. However, you can also use the three other pools at the Sultan Sands Island Resort & Spa.
Included: tennis with floodlights, use of the fitness center, table tennis, billiards, beach volleyball, kayaking. For a fee: deep-sea fishing, windsurfing, paddle boards, bike rental, tennis equipment.
Beauty & Wellness
For a fee: wellness treatments and massages at the “Oasis Spa”.

Honeymoon: Complimentary tropical garden flowers in the room upon arrival and a fruit plate in the room on the day of arrival.
A marriage certificate valid within 6 months of the guest's arrival at the hotel (certificate will be requested upon check-in).
Guests of the Bluebay Beach Resort & Spa can also use the facilities of the Sultan Sands Island Resort & Spa.
Notes
Following areas will be improved April-June 2025:
- Lounge, Bar and Restaurant area will be refurbished and extended. During this period guests kann use Bahari Grill and Sultan Sands Mwambao Restaurant, The Wok, The Trattoria and Cinnamon at Sultan Sands.
- The pool area will be getting a makeover. During this period guests will have a choice of Club pool at Bluebay Beach Resort & Spa and three pools at Sultan Sands. A new infinity pool will be added to the guests' experience.
- Some of the guest rooms will be upgraded with new furtinture and amenities.
- Blue Deli will be getting a makeover and will be closed 1st of April until 31st of May. Snacks will be served at Bahari Grill and at The Casablanca Lounge at Sultan Sands.
